The tradition of distributing Langar-Talbina Daliah (oatmeal) in Ajmer Sharif has a rich history, dating back 900 years to the time of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A.). It is said that Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A.) would lift the corner of his Jaa-namaz (Musallah), and Khwaja Syed Fakhruddin Gurdezi (R.A.) would take the money needed for the Langar arrangements. This communal meal was and still is consumed by everyone.
Historical Continuity and Daily Distribution Ajmer Sharif Langar
Since the lifetime of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A.), this pattern of Langar distribution has continued unbroken. Every morning and evening, Langar is prepared at the Dargah Sharif, serving approximately 2,000 people daily. The Langar-Talbina Daliah (oatmeal) is renowned not only for its spiritual significance but also as a remedy believed to cure various ailments. The cost of preparing this Langar Ajmer Sharif is INR 11,000

Special Contributions During the Urs Sharif, additional contributions can be made for the preparation of the Niyaz mentioned above. It is important to note that while contributions for these meals are encouraged, money for Sadqah or Zaqat should not be used for this Niyaz, as it is the Niyaz of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A.). The 'Sayed' community also partakes in this Tabarruk, and thus, funds from Sadqah or Zaqat are considered 'Haraam' for them.

Contributing to the Langar is a noble act that brings blessings and the favor of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A.). This communal meal serves as a symbol of unity and charity, nourishing thousands and upholding a legacy of inclusivity and care.
